Data Storage and Archiving - Fred Access

New users

New users in the scientific community (grad students, postdocs, faculty, technicians) should complete the computing application request available here: Computing Application. Please note: you must already have a CenterNet ID before requesting a Fred account.

About Fred

The Reseach Computing Support has developed automated systems to handle the transfer of large datasets generated through services provided by several of the Shared Resources (including Animal Bioimaging Center, Electron Microscopy, Flow Cytometry, Genomics, Proteomics, and Scientific Imaging). We support the management of scientific data beginning with transfer of data through long-term storage of various raw and processed versions of the data on the servers known as "Fred". Investigators receive a personal directory on Fred in which they can organize and store their files.

Accessing your files

After data comes off a Shared Resource instrument, it is copied to a user or lab home directory (as indicated by the user) in a subfolder representing the resource where the data was generated.

For example, data from Flow Cytometry would be saved in:
/user_home_directory/flowlab/raw_data_file
