Research Interests

My research emphasis is the design and analysis of cancer clinical trials incorporating quantitative imaging. Quantitative imaging as a cancer biomarker involves several challenges and opportunities that are different from those for tissue and blood biomarkers. Through collaborations with the Quantitative Imaging Network and other multidisciplinary, multi-institutional organizations, I am working on development of imaging biomarkers with respect to reproducibility and optimal trial design. Additionally, I am co-director of the FHCRC Breast SPORE with Dr. Li Hsu and collaborate on many clinical trials in the UW/FHCRC Cancer Consortium.

Throughout my graduate study in education research and biostatistics, my area of emphasis was analysis of longitudinal and other correlated data. I have continued involvement in that area through the Chronic Graft-versus-Host Disease Consortium (PI Dr. Stephanie Lee), and through independent research (funded by Safeway) in between-patient and within-patient (site-to-site) variability in estrogen receptor binding, measured in vivo by FES PET.
